Deer Valley’s Historic Expansion: The Future Arrives This Winter
Each morning, nearly 200 workers gather on Deer Valley’s east flank, racing to put the final touches on what is now the largest ski expansion in U.S. history.
It’s almost surreal to think that Alterra Mountain Company and Extell Development Company only announced their partnership less than two years ago—bringing the massive Mayflower project under the Deer Valley brand. And yet, here we are, on the cusp of a ski season that will forever redefine the mountain.
By December, the transformation will be complete: a three-mile gondola, two six-packs, and seven quad chairs will be ready to whisk skiers across a vastly expanded alpine playground. This winter, Deer Valley’s footprint more than doubles to 4,300 acres and 31 lifts.
The numbers are staggering—2,850 feet of vertical relief in total, with the new gondola alone soaring 2,570 feet in just 14.5 minutes. Last season’s limited preview was just a teaser. This year, the vision becomes reality: more terrain, more access, and more of what makes Deer Valley a world-class skiing experience.
